This year's Summer Trip to Crealy Adventure Park near Exeter will take place on 20th September. The coach will leave from Bristol at 8.30 in the morning, and stop to pick up more people from service stations on the M5 on the way down. We will meet at Crealy at 11.00 and leave at 4.00.The day will provide another opportunity for us all to meet up and catch up with each other and enjoy as much exercise as we feel we need. Details about the park can be found here .Details about our plans have been sent to members by post but contact us if you have any questions. We can't wait to see you all again!
The Easter Egg Hunt, that we had planned to hold on Easter Sunday, 23rd March, had to be cancelled because of miserable weather, and all potential hunters were cantacted in time and advised to stay wrapped up in thier duvets and eat chocolate and/or go to church.
On the 18th May we held a Teddy Bear's Picnic at Ashton Court on the outskirts of Bristol. This time the weather was kind to us, and those of us who came spent some time stretched out on the grass chatting and playing some moderately energetic games. In fact, there were very few of us - perhaps the weather had been too unpredictable or perhaps the event had not been a good idea. We will discuss this at our meetings and would very much appreciate hearing opinions from our members.
Below you can read about our last year's events, and you can see how much fun and how different they have been.

Christmas Party - December 1st 2007
Last year's Christmas Party in the Frenchay Social Club was as much fun as usual and even more full than usual. We all met up with old friends, ate cakes, bowled, laughed at Erbie the Clown, met Father Christmas and some of us won some raffle prizes.
Longleat Safari Park - September 22nd 2007
Despite our anxieties, the weather was kind to us and we all had a lovely day at Longleat.
We were a huge crowd - about 90 of us. The coach from Frenchay was full (and quite hot until we opened the skylights) and we met several families there before collecting our tickets and toddling off to sample the sights and activities. The coach toured the estate twice to provide everyone with a chance to see the exotic wildlife. We saw lions, giraffes, rhinos, ostriches and others, including a camel, who insisted on walking very slowly down the midde of the road in front of our coach, clearly very deep in thought (see photo in the Photos page). There was so much to do that we all had activitiy passes left un-used on our passports, that we can use on future visits before mid-November.
Everyone said that they had had a great day and it was lovely to meet up and chat with old friends, as we sat on the grass at lunch and tea times.
Parent Pampering
An ex-Frenchay Physiotherapist, Rebecca, who is now working as a reflexologist, came up with the idea of providing some a pampering session for FUN Club mums. Will and Julie drove a minibus from the Frenchay Hospital and 9 mothers of past and present patients nervously travelled to Clifton. Two hours later, on the journey back, despite some of their anxiety, they were so chilled, relaxed and refreshed that we are hoping to repeat the experience as soon as possible.
We are wondering about how dads would feel about having their feet therapeutically massaged. Let us know in the Guest Book page.
As most of you know...
We we had a fantastic day at Diggerland on 19th May.
The coach that left Frenchay Hospital at an unearthly hour on Saturday morning was full to bursting with Fun Club members and hospital staff. The weather forecasts were a little unnerving, and some of us spent much of the journey looking upwards in anticipation of rainclouds.
At Diggerland we met some more families and, despite our fears, the weather was excellent and we all had a fantastic time fulfilling our digger-driving dreams and meeting up with fellow Fun Clubbers.
Photos from the day can be seen on the 'photos' page and more pictures will be added, if and when they get passed to us
Some younger members of our group would have loved to have stayed a bit longer but we held a vote and the majority felt that five hours had been enough and we stopped off at Burnham on Sea for tea on our way back to Bristol.
One of our group cut his hand and had to make a short visit to A&E, but then joined us for tea by the sea at Burnham On Sea. The damage was minimal and he has since made a full recovery and he and his mum have not lost their enthusiasm for Fun Club adventures.
Thanks to everyone who came and made the day such a success and a special thanks to Kelvin who provided and drove the coach.
