Welcome to our website
This is our internet home.
Of course we still meet in person at Frenchay Hospital every month, but we know that so many of our members live too far away to join us at these meetings so we love to meet here through our computers as well.
There are some News and Thank-yous below on this page.
We are always looking for ideas of what to put here, so the site will be growing all the time.
If there are things that you would like to see here, please let us know at the addresses in the Contact Us page .
There's important news about our plans for events for the rest of this year as well as reports about last year's events in the Events page.
Please complete a Photograph Form in the Resources and Links page so we can keep updating the photographs on the site. There are useful documents here too, and links to other interesting sites.
The Guest Book is now ready for site visitors to place their comments and suggestions.
The Forum will soon be open for FUN Club members to talk to each other. If you contact us, we can give you a password so you can talk to other FUN Club members.
Fundraising Events & Donations
A big Thank You to those who have supported F.U.N Club. Recent donations include:
CLAY PIGEON SHOOT
At Podimore Shooting Ground Spring 2008, a fund-raising event was organised by Paul Bennett, family and friends. It was a very successful day, raising £2200 for FUN Club. Many thanks to all who participated.
FUND RAISING RUN
The annual Frenchay 10 km Charity Road Run this year nominated The FUN Club and the Jessie May Trust, a charity that that provides support for children with terminal illnesses, as the sole recipients of the money earned.
The race was held on Sunday 20th April on a dry and fairly warm day and several Frenchay staff members, including the FUN Club chairperson, Julie Fisher, ran the course, despite never having attempted anything like this before. Other FUN Club members - Will, Debbie, Sally and Sian brought along family members to act with them as marshalls.
The runners were fantastic - there were more of them than ever before and lots of money has been raised.
WELL DONE and THANKS for a marvelous day's work!
A very kind donation from Kerry Hampson and the Toad Hall Nursery in Okehampton. They have been very generous, running lots of fundraising activities.
Congratulations and thanks go to one of our parents, Claire Hardy, who recently got married and asked for donations to the FUN Club be made in lieu of wedding presents.
Hansons Sport and Leisure Club in Chipping Sodbury held a Quiz Night to raise funds for the FUN Club.
Close to Frenchay, a local pub, The Fishponds Tavern held a charity night and raised funds for us.
King Arthur's Lodge in Cornwall sent us £400 they had raised on our behalf.
The Frenchay Float, that travels around the area close to Frenchay making lots of Christmas noise, has supported us this year as one of their charities. They raised £1,150 for us.
Veronica Gosling gave us a very generous personal donation. Always appreciated!
Future Plans
We would very much like to see some satellite FUN Club groups set up around the South West region for those of you who can't make the regular trip to Frenchay. Families of ex-Frenchay Hospital patients really enjoy meeting up with others who have had simialr experiences. If anyone has ideas for groups or venues, please contact us and we can provide support.
A Joke Corner page on the website, in memory of Martha Mickshik, is in development so if you have any favourites, and can remember the punchlines, send us some to include.
